Thursday night, March 15th my husband had a series of heart attacks resulting in congestive heart failure. He underwent heart surgery 5 days later requiring a 6 way bypass and valve repair. He is recovering nicely. His surgeon remarked last night except for his crappy heart he's the healthiest patient he's ever worked on. He said "Old man, if you hadn't smoked for the last 50 years you'd live forever!" He's pretty drugged up and some of the things he says are hysterical (my husband is not a big talker). I'm hoping they send him home with lots of drugs...it's been nice to hear his ramblings! My boys are setting up the downstairs "t.v." room for his recovery...they have had his pickup detailed and added step-up running boards to it. The grand kids can't wait to get him home...so we all wait.
I have worked every day (except the day of the surgery) and then the 2 hour drive to the hospital for a quick visit, it's made for a very long week. I took today off from the hospital visit...had hoped to work in the garden, but we are having much needed rain. I think I'll use my day to just relax...a long bubble bath, a bit of reading and a nice long nap or two. Tomorrow I'll get to the hospital early and home late...today I'll be a tiny bit selfish.

I think being a little selfish today is a good thing!
Thank goodness your husband pulled through! We'll be keeping you and your family in our prayers.
Cyber Hugs Lynda. I agree with Robin. Take a breath Sweetie, spoil yourself and your Hubby. Our thought are with you!
My blessings and prayers to you Lynda.
I am so glad he is doing so well under such stress of a surgery as that.
Please take care, please rest, and spoil yourself...You deserve it, totally, then spoil him.
Love and Hugs
Lynda, I am so glad your husband is doing well. Emily
What a scary thing to have to experience. My thoughts are with you and hoping for a speedy recovery for your husband. These are all little reminders of how fragile our hold on life is. As for you...take care of yourself. Caregiving is very draining. A bubble bath sounds perfect!
What a stressful time you and your husband have been through. Best wishes for his full and speedy recovery, and I think you deserve to spoil yourself!
Oh, Lynda! My heart goes out to both of you and your entire family. What awesome kids you have that they will "redo" the room for his recovery when he gets home. Sounds like he is well loved. It's a scary time when our world is turned upside down like that. Caregiving is stressful. My hubby is sick, and I spent a few days in the hospital recently. Try to take good care of yourself. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Very smart of you to take a little time for yourself.
Oh my gosh, again? You poor thing, having to go through all that. It sounds like he is in great hands with you and the kids, you just need to remember to take care of yourself as well. Hang in there and know that we are sending cyberhugs to you and your whole family.
Hope he recovers nicely.
I send positive thoughts your way.
Yes I think a long bubble is in order!
Hey Lynda, I think everyone has said it all. I too will be praying for your family.
I'm glad your hubby is on the recovering side of the heart attack and surgery .. you SO deserve that nice bubbly bath and a day of rain in your garden.
Thinking about you.....

Warm fuzzy thought headed your way ... and, yes, remember to take care of yourself, too!
Oh Lynda, that's so scary. You must be exhausted. So glad things turned out so well. Hopefully it's a new lease on life for your husband. Hugs!
