Back To Work...But First To The Cabin
School starts on Tuesday; I officially start back to work on Monday...but have been to my office and the kitchen yesterday and today. This had to have been the shortest Summer Break I've ever had! I went into the office today to accept an order of produce and do a load of paperwork. We have ANOTHER new elementary school principal! I've worked under 4 principals since 2011! Each new principal has a new feeding schedule for the students...the whole process has to be recreated from scratch...not fun, heavy on the paperwork. This year my staff will serve an early breakfast, late breakfast, lunch, a nutrition break and then the after school supper program! Ridiculous. When do the teachers have students in their classrooms...when do these kids have time to learn? I understand how hard it is on a child to be hungry...but are you kidding me? Oh well, that's why they pay me the big bucks! And I guess this is what's meant by "job security"...
I'm going up to the Cabin tomorrow: Saturday...by myself, no friends, no family...I just want to relax, watch a movie or two and SLEEP...with the doors and windows open listening to the music of the creek. The Rocky Fire is over 30% contained so hopefully things will get back to normal. My neighbor says there's no smoke up at the Cabin...it's been awful here...very hard breathe. I have only spent a small amount of time outside because my eyes start burning...I've been waking each morning with a headache, too...gotta' get out of the Valley for just a bit. Any excuse to escape!

I can't believe school is starting already out there. Ours don't start until after Labor Day.
I'm glad to see salad bars in the school meal programs. And I'm doubly amazed that kids eat that! Glad, but amazed. My grandson won't touch a vegetable--so I so enjoy seeing kids that love the good stuff.
Enjoy your peaceful weekend
School started two days ago, Thursday. But the high school kids had two days of group activities. They were told to not bring any school supplies, they wouldn't need them. I did hear they learned to sing Kumbaya.
It is nice to see the good food you offer the students.
Sue: I have worked very hard to educate the kids on eating "good for you" foods. They know I have a huge garden and believe I grow all the veggies and fruits on the salad bar...and I don't tell them different! I give out seeds all of the time and make them promise to try and grow SOMETHING...it's a big deal to get a package of seeds from Miss Lynda.
Steve: Kinda' scary isn't it? I am very worried for the future of our little world...we don't seem to be turning out many well-rounded adults...lots of folks with entitlement issues, tho.
Really? Back to school already? And I thought we were bad. (out by mid June / back end of Aug)
You did make me laugh about the job security thing. Sometimes I think I'm the only one that can change a lightbulb or un-jam the copier. Hey...You wanna pay me the big bucks for that? Sure...@;)
Enjoy your "me" time
I wondered if you were still working for the school district. I remember taking my lunch to school and eating at my desk because the school had no lunch room and didn't serve lunches! My, how times have changed.
