Back From The Cabin

I'm back from the cabin.  It was a very nice, but short stay.  We had snow and rain every day except today...the day we came home.  The fireplace was a mess when we go into the cabin.  We had not cleaned out the ash the last time we were up and the melting snows and rains during the winter came down the chimney and made a wet sloppy mess.  The first thing I had to do was clean it out and lay a nice hot fire...because the pellet stove chimney had been torn from the roof!  That's a repair I'll have to make next time I'm up.
The snow levels were up an over the roof line this year.  Strong winds ripped off shingles and knocked down trees and limbs...we have a summer of heavy work ahead.  My brother's place fared much better than mine.

The creek running outside of my deck was high and cold.  I tried to do a bit of trout fishing, but the snow and rain made it almost impossible.  I spent most of my time reading, watching old classic movies and working on vendor packets for the Farmers Market.  My friend Nancy and I packed up early Monday afternoon and headed home.  Sometimes a quick run up to the cabin is all I need to rev-up my batteries and get me re-charged for the ranch-life.  I'm now ready for the coming week...gardening, harvesting, planting and organizing my pantry getting it ready for the up and coming canning season.

So sorry you found some messes when you arrived at your cabin, Lynda -- but it sounds like you had a great time anyway! Love your attitude. :)

The creek looks awesome Lynda, glad the damage wasn't worse.
Welcome back.
