Just Trying To Keep Warm!

I'm dehydrating chicken fajita meat today. We fixed chicken fajitas at the school several months ago and unfortunately we had lots of the meat leftover...we froze the leftover.  The last week before Spring Break I cooked some up and we had chicken fajitas as a free choice at the school...again we had way too many leftovers (leftover leftovers)...I had the kitchen staff throw the stuff that was still frozen out. As we were leaving we noticed the 3 gallon jugs of the meat in the garbage (one of the staff had set them aside in a protected spot)...we all looked at each other and grabbed a jug...after all if the FBI says once it's in the garbage it's Public Domain...why can't we say the same thing! So I'm dehydrating mine to see how that works out.  AND it's still raining and I'm cold...I was just looking for an excuse to run the dehydrator to warm up the kitchen!

Spring Break!

My long awaited Spring Break is here...and with it comes: RAIN!  I had so hoped for a long stretch of sunshine!  My poor transplants are begging to get out in the garden...it's too wet and too cool for them or is it?  I'm wondering if I'm just being lazy.  It's been a looooong couple of months.  I go off to work, rush home to check on the husband, put together a heart-healthy dinner (boy that's getting OLD) and then a quick check on the chickens and garden.  There just doesn't seem to be the time to really ENJOY what I'm doing.  I thought it was just a question of time management and my inability to be a good manager.  I'm wrong...the truth is I'm not 20/30/40 or even 50...I'm 58 with a huge family and a sick husband and I have run out of steam.  I am now looking forward to my summer break in five and a half weeks (5 1/2).  I will of course get the seedlings out before then, I'll have the chicken coop cleaned out, and more flowers planted.  But my summer break will be a time for reflection and I will take the time to figure out how I really want to live my life in the moment...I want to have Great Joy again.

Happy Easter!

Slowly but surely things are getting better here at our Farm.

My Husband is recovering well...still house-bound...but up and walking and taking in the sights.

Thank you all very much for your prayers.  Bless each and everyone of you.
